If you are interested in working in the lab, please fill out our Lab Interest Form. Due to the high volume of inquiries, we are unable to respond to individual emails. Placement in the lab depends on available space, funding, and project needs. While we receive interest from many exceptional researchers, we are not always able to accommodate everyone.
Postdocs - We welcome interest from potential postdocs. However, at this time, we can only consider applicants who have already secured external funding.
PhD Students - We may have 1 PhD position open to start in Fall 2026. Please apply to the University of California at Los Angeles, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering PhD Program. If you are on financial aid or have participated in select diversity programs, see UCLA Graduate Education's fee waiver information. We highly encourage you to apply for scholarships and fellowships to support your graduate education. A list of those is available below. Due to a high email volume, Dr. Yoshida will not respond to PhD student inquiries, but you are welcome to fill out our lab interest form (above).
High Schoolers, Undergraduates, & Master's Students - We are always looking for hard-working, innovative students to regularly work in our lab. We welcome students at UCLA and around the globe. Please see current openings below and indicate your interest on the Lab Interest Form! If you are a high schooler or undergraduate not at UCLA, we also have a variety of remote projects for you!
We highly encourage all students to seek fellowships, scholarships, and other summer programs to participate in research with the lab. If you are an undergraduate, please apply to the NSF GRFP in the fall of your senior year, and please reach out to our lab to share your interests. If you are an Indigenous student, please reach out directly to Dr. Yoshida, as there are additional mentorship & scholarship programs available.
